The researchers concluded that omega 3, omega 6, and antioxidants consumed as a supplement is effective for prevent hair loss.
Now, we started this article stating that there isn’t enough research to suggest that hemp seed oil is regrows hair.
And, we still stand by that statement.

If you’re familiar with hemp seeds and the oil derived from them, then you know hemp seed oil is rich in omega 3, 6 & 9 fatty acids.
As well as that, it is also rich with antioxidants so what gives.
Well, the focus of the study was on preventing hair loss and not regrowing lost hair.
If you are trying to prevent hair loss my rejuvenating the health of your hair then hemp seed oil is the way to go.
However, if you’ve already lost your beautiful hair and you’re trying to get it back, we cannot give any guarantees hemp seed oil will work.
Hemp seed oil improves hair strength
In the same study, the researchers pointed out that omega 3, 6 and antioxidant supplementation made the womens hair stronger and longer.
The study used medical terminology in making the following statements:
- The telogen hair percentage was significantly reduced in the supplemented group
- The proportion of nonvellus anagen hair increased compared to the control group
- The trichometer index increased in the supplemented group, while it decreased in the control group
So the above statements sound promising and good but what do they mean?
Let’s break each one down so you understand what’s happening.
1) The meaning of Telogen hair
Telogen hair percentage is in reference to a condition called Telogen Effluvium.
This is a condition in which hair falls out after a stressful experience.
So, telogen basically means that the hair stops growing.
Therefore, the study states that the percentage of telogen hair reduced significantly in the women who took the supplementation.

2) The meaning of Nonvellus Anagen hair
Vellus hair is also known as baby hair or peach fuzz.
This is the soft and light hair that you find around certain areas of your body i.e. your nose and eyelids.
Anagen hair is the active phase of hair growth.
This is when new hair is formed that pushes hair that has stopped growing up the follicle and eventually out in the telogen phase.
Therefore, the term nonvellus anagen hair is in reference to mature hair follicle’s that are actively growing.
And, according to the earlier study, nonvellus anagen hair increased in proportion in those who took the supplementation.
3) The meaning of the Trichometer Index
Trichometer Index is a clinical model that measures hair mass (quantity), diameter, and density.
Most physicians, if not all, use a device of some sort to take measurement of your hair.
According to the medical community, this model of measurement is very precise provided the measuring physicians hair sampling method is sound.
When we return to our earlier study, the third statement that was made is that the trichometer index increased in those who took the supplementation.
This means that the women’s hair showed an increase in mass, diameter, and density.
This is all good news of you’re experiencing hair thinning, breakage, or even mild hair loss.
