OK, hemp 101: What exactly is hemp?
Hemp is a crop belonging to the Cannabis sativa family of plants. It has multiple uses and applications, and not just as a food product. Hemp byproducts are used in textiles, paper, clothing, paint, insulation, biodegradable plastics, animal feed… the list goes on.
I’ve heard hemp can improve health. How does it work?
Hemp is a highly nutritious food. It’s a good source of plant-based protein, essential fatty acids, fibre, minerals and vitamins, so it’s great for your physical health. It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, improves heart and cardiovascular health, enhances your skin health and improves your body’s healing abilities. It can even help you lose weight.
But hemp is also fantastic for your mental health and wellbeing. It delivers all those vital nutrients to your brain, which helps reduce stress and anxiety, improve memory, and support neurotransmitter function.
I’m not sleeping well. Can your hemp products help?
We’ve got you. Our Night Time Blend features three types of terpenes (unsaturated hydrocarbons, if we’re trying to sound fancy) that help calm your mind, relax your body and reduce stress and anxiety.
Ugh, I’m feeling a bit foggy. Can you help me think more clearly?
You need our Clarity Blend. It features four types of terpenes (natural compounds) that help improve your focus, boost memory, reduce stress and anxiety, and boost natural energy levels.
I want to introduce hemp into my diet. Where do I start?
Good question. Check out our Inspire blog. It’s packed with articles and recipes that will help you easily introduce hemp seeds and proteins into your diet. You’ll be making hemp part of your day-to-day diet without even thinking about it.
Do you have hemp products for my joint and inflammation issues?
Do we ever! Our Hemp + Turmeric Capsules contain an abundance of omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids. Studies have shown that omega-3 fatty acids can help reduce inflammation and the pain caused by inflammation.
Is hemp the same as cannabis or marijuana? Will I get high?
No, and no. Hemp doesn’t contain tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as THC (that’s the psychoactive compound in marijuana). It’s safe and legal to use and beneficial in so many ways if you make it part of your daily routine – just ask the many cultures around the world that have been consuming hemp for eons.
Can hemp cause an allergic reaction in my body?
Unlikely. Hemp allergies are very rare. In fact, some say that allergies to hemp don’t exist. That said, there have apparently been a handful of reports linking hemp to anaphylaxis.
Will I fail a drug test if I consume hemp products?
No. At least, you won’t fail a test because you’ve consumed hemp. All our hemp products are THC-deficient. No tetrahydrocannabinol means no failed drug test.
Is hemp legal in Australia?
Yes. But don’t take our word for it. Ask the Office of Drug Control (ODC). They say hemp products derived from hemp seeds are 100% legal and permitted for human consumption.
What are terpenes?
Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in about 30,000 plants. They’re the natural compounds that create the characteristic scent and flavour of a plant. Common terpenes come from lavender, pine, lemon, orange peels, and mango.
Are terpenes legal in Australia?
Yes, provided they aren’t derived from the cannabis plant (terpenes derived from cannabis are illegal). All of our terpenes are derived from non-cannabis botanical sources.
Will your terpenes make me ‘high’ or cause me to fail a drug test?
No. They don’t contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC is the psychoactive compound in marijuana) or any other cannabinoids.
Will hemp products interact with my medication?
If you’re on medication, consult with your healthcare professional before using our products. You might have to leave a gap of two or three hours between taking your medication and consuming our products to prevent liver overload, which can lead to liver damage.
Is hemp oil different from CBD oil?
Yes, it is. Hemp oil (or hemp seed oil) is derived from hemp seeds and is ‘cannabinoid deficient’. CBD oil is derived from the cannabis (or marijuana) flower and is ‘cannabinoid rich’.
Where is your hemp grown? Is it GMO-free?
The hemp in our hemp-powered products is grown and processed right here in Australia. And yes, it’s GMO-free.
Is your hemp seed oil cold pressed?
Yes, the hemp seed oil we use in our terpene blends and capsules is cold-pressed.
How long should I wait for the terpenes to absorb?
In general, we advise waiting for at least 15-20 mins for full absorption.
Can I use your daytime terpenes more than once per day?
Yes, you can use our daytime terpenes multiple times a day. Some people use them once a day, while others use them many times throughout the day.
Is there a good time to take your nighttime terpene blend before bed?
We recommend taking our nighttime terpenes at least 30 mins before bed.
How long does it take for your products to start working?
It varies from person to person. A lot depends on your lifestyle. Some people see results fast, while others need more time. Generally speaking, the healthier you are, the faster you’ll see results.
